The Faiencerie de Gien is porcelain manufacturer located in the French city of Gien in the department of Loiret and the region Center-Val de Loire.
Among the many factories founded in the nineteenth century, the Faïencerie Gien numbers among the most famous and most important in Europe. Excelling in the art of imitation, the company produced copies of masterpieces from the past and offered them at affordable prices. Unique pieces were also created with the collaboration of talented artists who embellished them with original decorations, or with those drawn from the grand tradition of the French seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, or others still inspired by other European or Far Eastern cultures.
After the Second World War, Gien established a policy of enlisting the foremost designers of the age, among them, Guy de Rougemont, Paco Rabanne and Martin Szekely.
The present serving plate, produced in the 1960s, is a refined amalgamation of oval and rectangular forms and decorated with delicately speckled pastel colors. Divided into three equal sections, it is suitable for hors d#39;oeuvres or the salty snacks that accompany an aperitif at happy hour.
The serving plate is in perfect condition.
